Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes. It is necessary to make an appointment in order to be scheduled for a private consultation.
Where am I going to meet with the tailor?
As Marcel is the “traveling tailor” you can choose a location of your own convenience.
How long will a consultation session take?
For first time customers we require a minimum of one hour to measure a suit and about thirty minutes to measure a shirt. During the first visit, the cloth and trimmings are chosen, measurements are taken and the style of the garments is confirmed.
How long will it take to have my suit made?
Overall it will take six to eight weeks depending on the availability of the fabrics and on the time of the year.
Do you do suits for weddings?
Yes. We do suits for weddings and other special occasions. We source specialty cloths for such purposes that are matched appropriately to the warm South African wedding season. Please allow extra time for weddings, just for added peace of mind.
Do you make dinner suits?
Yes. We make dinner suits with both shawls and peak lapels.
Will I need to pay a deposit?
We require a 50% deposit at the time of order with the balance due on delivery of the garments. Please contact us for information on prices.
Do you travel to other cities to meet your clients?
Yes. Johannesburg clients can take advantage every four to six weeks when Marcel travels to Johannesburg for private consultations.
From whom do you source your suiting cloths?
Our cloths suppliers are:
ARISTON NAPOLI (Campania, Italy)
For more information visit: www.aristonfabrics.com
LORO PIANA (Quarona, Piemonte, Italy)
For more information visit: www.loropiana.com
We work with theses Italian suppliers only, in order to guarantee the highest possible quality and consistency in
suit fabrics. Most of the wool used by these weavers is Merino and Tasmanian.
From whom do you source your shirting cloths?
Thomas Mason is England’s best shirt weaver. Since 1992 Thomas Mason has been owned by Italy’s best weaver, Albini, and is producing the best and finest range of cloths available in the world. The cloths have great strength, suppleness and fineness, meaning they age beautifully and wear comfortably. They come in multitudes of colours, patterns and weaves to suit all tastes and occasions.
Do you carry out alterations?
We can alter garments that we have made and have been ordered through us.
How often should I dry clean my garments?
We do not recommend excessive dry cleaning as this can strip the wool of its natural oil affecting its texture and luster. We rather recommend to use a sponge and pressing service which helps to restore the wool and to prolong the life of the garment.
